21st February, the international mother language day is a worldwide annual observance to promote awareness about linguistic and cultural diversities. It was a social movement built on the spirit to defend the rights to write in one's mother language. It's historically linked to the language movement took place in 1952 by Bangladeshi people lead by some students to defend their right to speak their mother language 'Bengali' for which some of them gave their blood. In 1999, UNESCO announced this day as international mother language day. Since 2000, it has been observed thoughout the world to promote peace and multilingualism. BSO has also been observing the day in Auburn University campus each year to spread the spirit of linguistic diversity.
